Karolina Brobäck (b 1978) is a Swedish director and visual artist that fluently works with animation, photography, graphics, compositing and soundscapes. She grew up in Kungsbacka in Sweden, were she initiated her art studies. In 2003 she graduated in Animation & Experimental film at Diagonalakademin in Visby located on the island of Gotland. There, she received The Pink Foundation's scholarship for her transboundary work.
Today, Karolina live and work in Stockholm. She has been a part of the Atmo crew since 2008 and her engagement as a senior layout artist, animator and compositor in the production of Metropia by Tarik Saleh. She continued with the Atmo collaborations and has created graphic designs for several of their productions. She has also been assistant director to Tarik Saleh and Stefan Constantinescu.
Karolina always blends different techniques, seeking new angles in relation to reality. Her first film, Seat 26D (2014) an animated documentary short about the Gottröra crash, was nominated for the Best Swedish Short Award (Startsladden) at The 37th Göteborg International Film Festival. The international premiere were held in the Panorama section at IDFA in November 2014.
Karolina is currently developing projects and techniques as a five year student at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
